Scuba Dive Maui

Maui Scuba Diving Sites

Beach Dives

Scuba divers know West Maui best for its extensive coral gardens, tropical reef fish and green sea turtles. If you are not already a certified diver, these calm, protected waters provide the perfect place to take part in one of Island Scuba's introductory scuba divingexperiences. This is also an ideal location to complete the open-water training portion of the certification course you began at home. These dives provide the perfect opportunity for certified divers to accompany uncertified friends or family members. West Maui is perfect for snorkelers, too.

Night dives along the West Maui coast give certified divers the opportunity to see nocturnal reef inhabitants hunting, feeding or resting. Look carefully and you'll also see sleeping daytime reef animals.

Black Rock
A large black volcanic rock peninsula juts out several hundred feet from shore, providing a protective cove with excellent diving for the certified diver as well as the beginner. The underwater terrain is mostly volcanic rock with an abundance of colorful reef fish, such as lemon butterfly fish, puffer fish, parrot fish, moorish idols and turtles. Black Rock is a great dive for those who do not want to spend the time on board a boat; it is also convenient for night dives.

Turtle Reef
Located in front of the Maui Marriott Hotel, Turtle Reef is where the
endangered Hawaiian green sea turtle live . If you want to see turtles up close and personal, this is the place. In addition to turtles, there are acres of corals and abundant marine life. Our two favorite turtles are Burt & Ernie. These two turtles are so accustomed to our dives that even first time underwater photographers can get excellent pictures.

Boat Dives
Certified Scuba Divers may go interisland to enjoy some of Hawaii's best scuba diving on a two tank dive to either Molokini Crater or the island of Lana'i. Reservations required.
Prices

Dive Molokini
Scuba diving the world-famous Molokini Crater. You'll encounter hundreds of tropical fish, graceful rays, octopi, moray eels and white-tip reef sharks. Along the slopes of the submerged volcanic cinder cone, divers can experience the best visibility in the entire state -- frequently exceeding 100 feet or more. Island Scuba offers two-tank trips to Molokini seven times each week for certified scuba divers. If you are scuba diving multiple days, a trip to Molokini should be part of your itinerary.

Scuba Diving Lana'i
Many scuba divers believe the South and West coasts of Lana'i offer the ultimate in Hawaiian scuba diving. No other destination in Maui County offers the diversity of dive sites that Lana'i does. You'll experience unique coral formations, mysterious lava tubes, graceful archways and soaring pinnacles. For shear drama, nothing beats the sight of light cascading through the multiple openings of lava domes, such as First or Second Cathedral.

With over 25 scuba diving sites to choose from, no single trip can begin to scratch the surface of what Lana'i offers divers. Island Scuba offers several two-tank Lana'i trips for certified divers each week. To fully experience everything Lana'i offers, we recommend you take advantage of at least two such trips every time you visit Hawaii.
